2022 Farm to Table Dinner a Success

Monroeville Main Street (MMS) hosted its 2nd Annual Farm to Table Dinner on Tuesday, June 21st at the Shop at 66. The dinner, which was limited to 184 tickets, sold out in early June and all the profits will go toward projects in the Monroeville Main Street District over the next year. Coastal Alabama ambassadors Chyna Lett, Mary Katelyn Riley, and Sarah Williams with along volunteers Mary Taylor Winters and Trina Richardson greeted guest who were treated to live music by local musician James Cook.

The appetizer table featured a selection of cheeses, charcuterie, fresh and dried fruits, and pickled vegetables served with with nuts, crackers, jams, jellies available from Main Street members including The Bird’s Nest, Emmett’s House, and Cobbwebs. Just before dinner, MMS Board President Alisha Bowen welcomed everyone and board member Terry Johnson blessed the meal. MMS executive Director Anne Maire Bryan thanked guests for their support before giving a brief overview of recent and upcoming events and projects. Hunters Run Bar & Grill prepared and served this year’s dinner of Cornish game hens with white BBQ sauce, smoked squash and zucchini, new potatoes, and sliced tomatoes. Mrs. Teresa’s Homemade Treats made pecan pie and blueberry bread pudding for dessert. After dinner, a live Art Auction with Auctioneer Layton Griggers featured paintings donated by area artists and raised funds for the Monroe Council for the Arts, a project of Monroeville Main Street.

At the close of the evening, Anne Marie Bryan presented the First Annual #ThumbsUpWithSam Community Service Award to Rabun Williams. Rabun’s love and dedication is evident in his tireless volunteer service to Monroeville and its organizations including the Monroe County Museum, Monroe County Library, and the Chamber of Commerce. The award honors the life of long-time MMS board member Sam Schjott, whose community service legacy reaches far beyond Monroe County.
